Iron Man 3 Scores big at the Box Office

After a staggered worldwide release, it opened this past weekend in North America in 4,253 theaters and pulled in $175 Million at the box office - the second best opening weekend of all time falling behind The Avengers‘ $207.4 million opening during the same weekend last year. This brings Iron Man 3’s current worldwide box office total to nearly $700 million dollars. 

Disney has released some interesting data about Iron Man 3’s audience. 

• 45 percent of tickets sold were in the 3D format
• 61 percent were male
• 55 percent above the age of 25
• 52 percent of viewers were couples
• 27 percent were families
• 21 percent were teens

This also means that Iron Man 3 tops the list for Iron Man movie openings as the original Iron Man brought in $98.6 million and Iron Man 2  pulled in $128.1 million over the same period.
