Deadline has reported that ABC Studios has given Joss Whedon the green light to start working on a pilot episode for S.H.I.E.L.D (Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate), which he is to be co-writing and possibly directing.
You don’t need to be an avid comic book reader to have heard of S.H.I.E.L.D, as the organisation has made appearances in movies such as Ironman and The Avengers (in which Samuel L. Jackson played Nick Fury, the director of S.H.I.E.L.D).
This news has me particularly excited, as Joss Whedon was the man behind some of the best television series to ever hit our screens (Firefly for example). I’m just glad Fox isn’t involved.
